As you know, there are very few studies on men with breast cancer! On Oct. 10th, 2010 found a lump in my right breast when taking a shower....contacted my family doctor immediately and was put on a fast track to diagnose and treat....full masectomy on Oct. 27th, 2010....no cancer in Lymph glands...stage one....tumor size of 1.7 CM....now doing radiation treatments ....30 of them...one each weekday...They are using the "Triology - IGRT....with HDR Brachytherapy boost. Medical Oncologist meeting is next week to determine if Med/chemo treatments are needed....they did a test called "Onco Type DX" and my score was "27".... which will determine the medical oncologists suggested treatment. Would like to hear from any other men who have been thru this..ie: their treatments, meds., results, suggestions, etc. My e-mail is bordner2@aol.com

Are you a survivor of breast cancer? so far Has our site helped you? If so, how? It is good to know that I am not alone Comments: Diagnosed with MBC 7/24/09. Mastectomy 7/31/09. Stage IIB. Good prognosis. I consider myself very fortunate. ACT chemo. Taxol tingles in my digits still. I'm in my 2nd week of radiation with Tamoxiphen to follow. Until this happened, to me, I never knew men were susceptable to breast cancer. In a strange way, MBC has been a positive life affirming experience. It is aso a good way to get hugged by women.

Yes!Comments:When I first heard about (MBC) Male Breast Cancer, years ago, I was astonished to know that "Breast Cancer" is not only a women diseases, but also men; you are right, the ribbon should be Pink and Blue!Thanks to God, the only cancer story on my family is from my grandfather that died form prostate cancer at age of 89, after battle it for years. I am a MIBC (Medical Insurance Billing and Coder) student, and the instructor requested the students to write a project about any type of cancer. I immediately thought about male cancer. I am married and have a 22 year old son, and through this project, I was able talk about it the issue with them as well.

I felt the spot he had taken a tug at as well! and it was a lump. I thought, ok, the dog got carried away and bit me, or was it something else. I was scheduled for a doctors appointment in a few weeks, as I have suffered from the effects of being HIV positive (Carrying the AIDS virus) since 1984. At the appointment I mentioned the lump. The Doctor sent me to have a mamagram and ultrasound. The gal who ran the ultrasound said not to worry it was an infection. I didn't worry until the lump continued getting larger. My physican had my see a surgeon who in turn, did the biopsy. A few weeks later I would have a masectomy to remove my right breast as well as 14 lymph nods. Luckily only 1 of the nods came back positive. My lump was over 3 cm in size. I finished chemotherapy in November of this year (2010) and will start radiation treatments after the holidays to treat the aggressive cancer that I had. Chemo was hard on me, I lost all the hair on my body, and suffered with nausa throughout it, and was so thankful that my immune system which is already so compromised was able to tolerate it, so for that I am greatful. I only hope that in the future they find a cure for both cancer and AIDS.
