This is a very informative website. Thank you for being there for those of us who may or may not have breast cancer. My Mother died of cancer in 1955 and I prayed for a miracle at that time. Still there is none

My husband, at age 82, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of January, 1999. We were given the very best treatment by his primary care doctor, the surgical oncologist, the second and third opinion oncologists, his medical oncologist, the chemotherapy center. All covered by our HMO with no quibbling or hesitation. Five months after the mastectomy, he developed a cough (before he had the last of the chemogherapy cycles). Three weeks later he died as a result of the cancer metastasizing into his lungs. Now my goal is to encourage all men to be aware that all lumps should be investigated promptly. We need to educate physicians and lay persons about this fierce attacker.

Thanks for a great cause. I joined the Male Breast Cancer support group over 1 year ago when my father's breast cancer returned after 5 years of being cancer-free. His fight ended on August 31, 1998 at the age of 57 years. The group was there for me throughout and still is to this date. Bob's death hit hard as this was the second death from breast cancer that I was part of. I wish Canadians fought as hard as you Americans are, at finding a cure and letting the world know about male breast cancer. I am only one small person in a big world but I am trying to help out the best I can. Keep up the fight and one day we can make my father, Bob, and of course John Nick, and others like them proud of our accomplishments.

Thank you for your efforts to use this site to raise the awareness of men with breast cancer. I will reach the five year mark this March, having been diagnosed with MBC at age 46. My doctor immediately responded to my concern about a lump under my left breast, and the following days went by quickly: mammogram, lumpectomy, mastectomy with lymph node removal, bone scan. This was followed by 6 months of chemo (CMF), two years of Tamoxifen and three years of Arimidex. I've added a rigorous regimine of vitamins and strong exercise to my life. For the moment, I'm healthy!

My father (56 yrs old) was diagnosed with breast cancer in June of 1998. He had a mastectomy and 6 months or chemotherapy, and now is deciding what the next step is. The doctors are recommending 5 years of Tamoxifen and 6 weeks of radiation. He is doing well and is definitely surviving, and we are believing that he will beat this thing. It is frustrating that 99.9% of the Web sites out there are for women, and I have a lot of questions about the drugs they want to give him. Thanks for being out here for people like me to read these stories of survivors.

I had a research paper to do on any health topic I wanted, so I chose breast cancer in men. My professor was so surprized about the topic, because he didn't know that men could have breast cancer. So I decided to research it to make sure I hadn't made a mistake and came up with your website. Thank you.

I was browsing the web for information about starting a mobile mammography unit and stopped by your page. I am sorry for your loss, but hopefully it will help promote the realizaiton that breast cancer can affect men too. Maybe we can do male detection as well as female if our program gets funded.
