The late- Mr. John W. Nick died from breast cancer June 11,  1991, at the age of 58.

 Thank you for sharing your stories. I noticed pain in my left breast, had a ultrasound & mamography which revealed a 1" mass, and will have surgery in 3 days. I am only 35 yrs and feel too young for this. Yet I know others have survived, and hopefully I will too. Sincerely, Michael Wellner

 - Monday, November 04, 2002 at 19:27:54 (PST)I just came across your website. I was reading the stories & my eyes filled with tears. It's nice to know you are not alone. In April of 1998, I found a painful lump in my right breast. I ignored it because I just didn't think it was anything to worry about. The lump grew & by June, it was very apparent that something was wrong. There was no drainage, just pain & a huge right breast. I went to my doctor about it & he sent me to a specialist, who advised me that "If it ain't supposed to be there, we need to get it out." So we did. Thankfully, the mass the size of a golfball was benign, no chemo needed. But the thoughts that went through my mind: Will it be malignant? What happens next? Will there be more surgery? Then it hit me; that's what women think when they fear a breast cancer diagnosis. It has really changed my perspective on the "difference" between men & women. I beleieve now the only cancer a man can't have is ovarian or uterine, and a woman testicular. Other than that, there Is no difference between men & women when it comes to cancer.


 James Wilson Tucson, AZ usa - Thursday, November 28, 2002 at 19:01:42 (PST)   I had my mastectomy at age 50, then underwent four sessions of chemotherapy. I'm just happy that my oncologist reviewed the pathology reports from my surgery and said, "No need for radiation"! Life goes on.
